Zion’s Youth Ministry is comprised of social events, service opportunities, and prayerful support for the high school youth of Zion. From “Capture the Flag” to baking cookies for others, pancake breakfasts to assembling luminaries for worship, our goal is to provide youth with an opportunity to both put faith into action and grow together as a group.
A unique part of the high school youth ministry is the mentoring program. The mentors at Zion become key supporters and prayer partners with the youth. Each youth is assigned a mentor during her or his Confirmation journey, and these mentors continue to accompany the youth throughout their high school career. Youth who are new to Zion will be paired with a mentor whether or not they have completed Confirmation. The youth and mentors then work together on projects and plan activities.
Zion’s Youth attended the 2012 ELCA National Youth Gathering in New Orleans, Louisiana—check out our 2012 Youth Gathering Blog! The 2015 ELCA National Youth Gathering will be held in Detroit, Michigan, and we’re already looking forward to going back!
